Caitlin Duffy

Senior Associate for Learning and Engagement

Caitlin joined NCRP in 2013 and spent three years contributing research and writing for the Philamplify project. In her current role as senior associate for learning and engagement, Caitlin provides leadership on strategic outreach, partnerships, and web-based and in-person presentations for Power Moves, and manages the Impact Awards celebration of philanthropic excellence. She has served as staff liaison to leaders in the movement for environmental and climate justice.

Originally from New Jersey, Caitlin’s interest in social justice and public accountability began with a youth-led anti-Big Tobacco movement that introduced her to the power of peer organizing and policy advocacy, and close relationships in Central American immigrant communities that sparked critical reflection on race and whiteness. Following in the footsteps of other public service workers in her family, Caitlin studied secondary education and began her nonprofit career providing counseling for home energy assistance, English language instruction, camp programming for youth with disabilities, and child abuse prevention workshops.

These experiences spurred a learning journey about human rights and the history of U.S. colonialism and imperialism that led to graduate studies in Washington, D.C. Caitlin conducted research in Peru on the social impact of mining; led a service learning trip to an autonomous housing cooperative in Mexico; studied abroad at the United Nations mandated University for Peace in Costa Rica; and interned with an anti-racist grassroots organization.

Caitlin holds a M.A. in Ethics, Peace, and Global Affairs from American University’s School of International Service and a B.A. in Spanish from The College of New Jersey. She has served on the board of a local community-led grantmaking fund, the Diverse City Fund, and on the steering committee of the D.C. Chapter of Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy (EPIP).
